Breaking the Myths About How to Cure Stretch Marks

If you have been looking for a way to cure stretch marks online then you’ve probably already been bombarded by product manufacturers and dealers that claim that they can cure stretch marks. This is a stretch mark myth and there are a few others that need to be broken too.

Myth #1: Products can cure stretch marks.

Topical and oral products that say that they can cure stretch marks may not be able to support their claims in the long run. What products really do is simply reduce and diminish the appearance of stretch marks. This is true for most over the counter and even prescription products. No product can completely remove stretch marks. Those however who have very mild stretch mark conditions may have significantly reduced scars after using a good product. You would do well to stick with a product that will not claim to have a cure but will only claim a reduction of scar appearance.

Myth #2: You can instantly cure stretch marks.

There is no instant, overnight miracle cure for stretch marks. The closest you can get to a cure is by undergoing a tummy tuck or a laser treatment. These methods however are very expensive. A tummy tuck is also very invasive and may pose considerable risks. Laser treatment on the other hand may not be effective for serious stretch mark cases. Avoid surgical procedures if you do not have a very severe condition.

Myth #3: Only pregnant women need to cure stretch marks.

Although there may be no clear way to cure stretch marks, pregnant women may be able to prevent severe stretch marks through diet and exercise. Aside from pregnant women however, teenagers and bodybuilders may also develop stretch marks. Anyone who undergoes rapid weight increase and expansion usually develops stretch marks.

Myth #4: There’s no need to consult a doctor when using a natural stretch mark product.

Reputable natural brands that can reduce the appearance of stretch marks can be bought over the counter even without a prescription. Both teens and adults and even pregnant women may use such products safely. Common sense would say however that pregnant women should always consult a doctor before using any product.

Myth #5: There are methods to cure stretch marks that are already old.

Old stretch marks or those that have already turned silver or white are very difficult to treat. Some good natural products however may still be able to effectively diminish these scars but the reduction may take a long time. It is always better to use an anti stretch mark product or procedure when the scars are still fresh.
